Two methods produce steel. One is the primary method, and the other is the secondary method. The iron provided by primary means is called primary producers, and other secondary methods are secondary producers.

PRIMARY STEEL PRODUCTION:

Primary Brand is produced from a steelmaking process known as BOF (Basic Oxygen Furnace), also known as a converter process. Here iron ore is converted into steel. It is manufactured from the raw material of iron ore. In the primary method, steel is produced directly by the processing of iron ore like Magnetite, Hematite.

SECONDARY STEEL PRODUCTION:

The steel produced by the method using available steel like scrap, billets is called the secondary purpose. In this process, to acquire the desired quality required elements will be added. Generally, it is made through the arc furnace route.

There are several Re-Rollers in India. There is around 180 number of Re-Rollers in India. They are mainly conglomerated, where there are primary steel producers located primarily in their raw material requirements. The capacity of Re-Rollers is deficient compared to primary producers. So they can cater to the needs of a small segment of customers.

Generally, steel produced by the primary method is superior in quality compared to the Secondary process.

COMPARISON OF PRIMARY AND SECONDARY STEEL:

The quality of primary steel is superior to secondary steel as the prime steel is produced the high-end technical process to control mechanism. The central steel quality will be consistent, uniform, chemically, and mechanically better in properties. The prices of primary products will be higher than the secondary outcomes. For Heavy Structures expecting a longer life, load-bearing units. It is better to go to the leading producer of steel.

In light structures like a compound wall, flooring structures, single-story buildings, lintels, and secondary steel, they can be used because of lower prices. Otherwise, it is always preferable to go to primary steel. The benefits of prime steel are higher compared to secondary steel because of better quality controls & superior processes.

The difference in the prices of primary vs. secondary steel is shallow compared to the total cost of a building.
